Enabling ActivityPub on WordPress

Enabling ActivityPub on WordPress

It’s true, your WordPress blogs can now join the Fediverse. This allows Mastodon, Misskey (including Firefish), and other users to subscribe to your blog using just one account and even leave comments. Starting with Activityp
ub Plugin v2.0, it can show replies made to comments made from the Fediverse both ways with Threaded Comments support.

For Wordpress.com users, you can enable this by following these instructions.

For self hosted WordPress, it will take more steps to enable this. Install the following plugins:
You should import the Fedinuke list to the disallowed comment keys to prevent the worst of the worst servers from seeing your blog posts and interacting with it. Note that you need to approve the posts from Fediverse users before they appear on your blog.

If you are using W3 Total Cache or any other page caching plugin, you should add the following to the disallowed user agents for Page Caching, or it won’t function properly:

Code:
Akkoma
Catodon
Friendica
Hometown
Firefish
Iceshrimp
Mastodon
Misskey
Pleroma
Sharkey

Once enabled, you can follow your blog at @<authorname>@<blog domain> or <specifiedblogusername>@<blog domain> if you decide to enable the blog username option. Then you can boost the posts from your blog to share them with the Fediverse (this is a viable option if you are using Firefish/Iceshrimp/Misskey).

If you just want to share your posts the old way, autosharing post links to Mastodon when you publish a new post, view this tutorial video on the Sakurajima blog.
