Centralized social media lead to a decline of things like blogs, forums, and IRC chat rooms, because of connivence and everyone on one platform instead of accounts on every forum community. Is it because of modern platforms like reddit, discord etc? Shame, I like forums! You chat with others without clutter etc. Fast and quick!![]()
Shame that everyone wants everything all in one app now.Centralized social media lead to a decline of things like blogs, forums, and IRC chat rooms, because of connivence and everyone on one platform instead of accounts on every forum community.
Maybe there will be a breaking point where people will just seek out alternatives
Ohhhhh now I get it (yes this is the op of the post btw) lemmy I tried but didn't like the culture (I tried ani.social, hated it) I would like an instance without the middle school upvote and down vote behavior tbh. Mastodon culture I like very much! Sakurajima.moe fourm I like because good moderation and rules and folks mindset here isn't like lemmy's.Some people blame centralized social media. Which to an extent, yes.
But actually, I think it has to do with everything being centralized on app stores.
The modern forums would be say apps like kik, or dare I say, Amino apps (which has gone downhill ever since they quite letting users make new accounts with an email, you can only make an account on there with Facebook or Google.
But there is some amount of hope. While it isn't a traditional forum websites, Lemmy is a good open, federated Reddit experience. But opensoured and federated. It has some good activity.
But if you are looking for real, traditional forums. It is still possible to find active ones. But you'l have to search something specific like. Anime forums. Video games forums. Nintendo forums. Xbox forums. and etc. Super Mario Forums. There is one not as popular video game franchise I use to play all the time and when Rayman Origins game came out in 2011, the activity on those forums at the time were massive. Not at Facebook lengths but it felt like there were people not heir and actively talking. I can confirm that Raymanpc forums to this day is still active, but the game they typically talk about isn't the most well known.
Ok. What you could try is google searching for an online anime forums, there's a few of those around. idk how active they are now a days. but I assume they are around. You might have to do some digging in Google results in scrolling.Ohhhhh now I get it (yes this is the op of the post btw) lemmy I tried but didn't like the culture (I tried ani.social, hated it) I would like an instance without the middle school upvote and down vote behavior tbh. My specific reference to Lemmy was because that it was forums-like. although it was more specifically trying to mimic reddit.
If you have a specific franchise, or anime, you can also try looking for an anime forum based on a series. There were a few dbz anime forums. idk where they are now but some of the older but popular forums are still around. The hardest thing is, with Google algorthms hidding more and more independent sites. So you'll have to type in more specific search terms onto Google search.
When you join something you'l want to read their rules and etc. Make sure it fits what you are looking for. But, places like Reddit, tbh I never use it, but places like that are the more popular forums. Because it's one major source users see when they Google something that Google decides to show users.
