Happy mid-fall and of course Sakurajima turning 4 years old. With that, here are the updates
Mastodon Update
I'm still preparing the fork that will eventually be deployed to Sakurajima. First, I have to do some testing, and unfortinately some things didn't function properly with the 4.5 fork. We had to start off clean with the current branch of Glitch-soc and when 5.0 comes out, it will be updated based on the stable branch instead. I have re-cherrypicked the customizations and will be testing it in a VM. If that doesn't work, I will just use Chuckya as the base, apply the additional features and call it a day.Since the current version of Debian, 11 is out of date, first we have to migrate the stuff off Debian 11. I will do some preparations to move to RHEL 9, which will give longer term support. I expect to finish this first by implementing database replication/cloning between Debian and RHEL 9 VM, which is already set up. Once I can confirm that the current Mastodon enviroment works on RHEL, proceed to do the cutover and after some time, deploy the Glitch Soc 5.0 branch updates.
Note that existing quotes from the legacy system will carry over to the official one as work has been done on Treehouse fork to migrate them over. Nobody should lose any quotes currently made before the cutover.
The plan is to have it done by the end of this year, or if not, in January. The reason it took a bit long is due to life being busy and I want to make sure it's done correctly.
