Sakurajima Now Testing Discord Alternative: Fluxer

If you remember earlier this year, Discord is about to roll out age verification to all users, or they will be stuck in kids mode. With people looking for alternatives, Fluxer seems promising, but we waited for it to bake in the oven while they develop the self-hosting aspect.

Now that it’s possible, we are starting the pilot for our Fluxer server, which is named Yurigaoka. You remember that this domain was susposed to be used for the Loops server, alternative to Tiktok. However, plans have changed and video hosting is out of the question due to high costs. It will be reused for Fluxer.

In the coming days, the following people can request invite link though DM of the Sakurajima account here or on Bluesky or though our ticketing system. The following can request a link:

• Creative communities/groups that focus on the following:
  • Blogging/Podcasting/Creating Videos about Japanese media and/or culture
  • Creating fan-art/anime-styled artwork (including OCs)
  • VTubing (including creating models)
  • Vocaloid/Voiceroid (works created with Vocaloid, Cevio Ai, SynthV, Voiceroid, Voicepeak, etc)
  • Fanfiction or fiction (based off Japanese works or Japanese inspired)
  • Any small business selling Japanese goods.
  • Japanese inspired video games, RPG Maker or visual novels.
  • Cosplay, and other creations involving Japanese media or Japanese inspired.
  • Fansubbing or translation of unlicensed works.
• General or more specific Anime/Manga/Japanese video game communities (e.g. a social group that focus on a certain Gacha game)
• People who donated to Sakurajima or an active Patron on the Sakurajima Patreon page.

Creators and Patrons/Donors will be given elevated privileges to be able to create communities. While normal users might be able to create one, there will be restrictions that they won’t function unless a user have special privilages as Fluxer doesn’t have the ability to prevent users from creating communities. This is to moderate what communities can be hosted on Yurigaoka and prevent potential abuse.

Under limited circumstances, we will allow non-Japanese media/culture community as long the organize is a member of our Mastodon/Misskey or later, our AT Protocol PDS server for at least three months, own a blog that is featured on AniBlogTracker, or those who have donated the past may create non-Japanese media/culture related chat groups.

All Sakurajima rules applies to the use of our chat servers.
