Welcome to Fall as the year is about to wrap up. Here are some updates.
Fluxer Public Beta
We have opened our Fluxer server in September, but now open for public beta for Sakurajima members only. You can access the invite link in the annoucement. We intend to open it to the public towards the end of October (It will still be though an invite link, but on the main JoinSakurajima website.Creators and people who need individual main server invite link may apply for one by sending me a direct message or requesting one through the ticketing system.
Fundraising Updates
It's now October and the beginning of fall. We are getting closer to our goal, but still a little bit off.$804.76/1293
As we stand up our Fluxer server, of course it needs a bit more resources. As mentioned this summer, hosting costs have gone up due to the RAM shortage.

New Rule - All accounts has to be related to/have interest in Asian media or Culture (e.g. Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Taiwanese).
Starting the middle of September due to some incident, we are only allowing accounts that have an interest in Asian media or Culture for new accounts moving forward. This can be Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and Taiwanese. Completely unrelated accounts after September 2026 will be instantly banned if their profiles or inital posts indicates 0 interest in the above. No exceptions will be made as we are a fandom server, not a general purpose server. This does not mean what you post can only focus on the above. You are allowed to post anything as long it follows the rules, but you have to have some interest in Asian media or culture. This is due to the rise of AI-agent spam accounts and unrelated accounts that don't fit the theme of the server. Also, existing accounts before September 2026 is not bound to this rule.
Mastodon 4.5 Upgrade and Moving off Debian 11
Some planning is being done, but we need to test our updated fork of Mastodon 4.5 before making the move. I want to be careful so things don't break, so the new version will be tested in a test enviroment in my homelab first, including a test to see most of the old quotes from the old system gets moved over to the official one. Also, we will be moving off Debian 11 since its EOL to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.We expect the move to be done by the end of the year, perhaps in December. We will annouce when the actual move will happen along with the downtime that might be required. The first step is testing the forks in a test enviroment and replicating the entire database to the new one for a period of time until we are ready.
