As a result, the cost of everything tech related, including regular hosting is going up. You probably heard from other Fediverse servers that their hosting costs went up. While it took a while, we are now impacted. The increased cost is estimated to be about $60 (from how much it increased per server of about $30 each, but this may change).
Therefore, it's important for more people to help offset our costs. We do not run ads or charge for services, but this means we have to rely on donations. I have covered the remaining costs that is not covered by donations from Patreon and Ko-fi. However, with the recent increases, it's not sustainable in the long term.
While Sakurajima is no way in any risk of shutting down, but it put a halt to providing more services. However, if costs continue to increase and monthly donations don't increase to cover at least half the current costs, we might have to make tough decisions such as reducing the amount of resources servers receive to consolidate everything to one server, discontinue services outside of Mastodon/Misskey/Bluesky, which can impact service performance and limit storage to store posts across the fediverse and use by other services.
If you are able and actively use our services, consider chipping in a few dollars a month. If we could get 13 people donate $3 a month, at least half the costs will be covered and be less of a burden. Note that you don't have to be a member of our server to support us.
Note that we host things besides our Mastodon and Misskey servers, which include WordPress hosting and also AniBlogTracker (which tracks all known Anime Blog in the known instance, allowing you discover new posts)
