With some advancements in personal data stores (PDS) being easier to set up along with account migration process being easier than before, we are almost ready to start public testing of Sakurasora, our version of Bluesky, but independently run and not rely on any of Bluesky’s controversial moderation service, but independently ones like Blacksky run.
The idea is to eventually have our own version of Bluesky that at least mostly run independently, making it less susceptible to the process known as “enshittification.” Also, it’s very easy to move servers. All you need to do is click the “Move your Account” option on the registration page, follow the steps, and you will be fully moved to Sakurasora.
Also, we have more in store for Sakurasora, which includes a feed that contains Bloggers/Podcasters/Writers/Artists that review or create art around Japanese media and culture, industry accounts, and members who are on the Sakurasora PDS while having safer moderation that actually increases safety and not protect controversial figures because it’s not convenient. By moving your account, you are giving less control to Bluesky over their control of the AT Protocol network We saw what happened with Twitter, Discord, and other big platforms. We have a chance to take control back and rebuild the independent web, where the people control the internet.
In the first phase of opening up the PDS after battle testing it with some uses is to start inviting people. When that happens, we will allow the following to request an invite.
