Now that we are in the first day of February, here are some upcoming updates for Sakurajima
New Server and Sakurajima Social and Sakurajima Misc Services Server Move
We have added a new dedicated server, which we will use to move the extra services (Forums, Pixelfed, WordPress) and Sakurajima Social to. This will give some more space to grow in the future, especially after a Bluesky compatible PDS (based off Blacksky’s rsky) is added this Spring.(Some space will be used for the owner’s purposes, and will be reflected in the estimated cost, $42 subtracted from the total cost of the two servers). The new goal for Q2 will be 82 a month.
The server move will happen in February, but will be only a few hours of downtime to move the VMs to the new server. The server that hosts the forums, Pixelfed, WordPress hosting, and other projects will be moved on Saturday at 10 PM ET. Sakurajima Social will be migrated on February 21st at 10 PM ET.
After Sakurajima Social is moved, we plan to do a 1-2 hour downtime to update xcp-NG from 8.2.1 to 8.3 sometime in March. More details on that will come after the two servers are moved. This will only affect the Mastodon server and will be backed up before the updae happens.
