While there were some minor issues with the move of Sakurajima Social, it appears most of the issues have been resolved. With that, here are the April 2026 updates.
Sakurajima Mastodon Future Updates
With work on Sakurajima Social now complete, the update to Sakurajima Mastodon will eventually happen. The first step is to update XCP-ng on Sakurajima Mastodon first. Then the server that hosts Mastodon needs to be upgraded from Debian 11 to 12. Lastly, Mastodon will get upgraded from 4.4 to 4.5. The new rebased fork needs to be tested to ensure nothing breaks, but I plan to do so in the near future.The goal is to have it done by the end of June.
Service Updates
Sakurajima's Uptime status page is now restored and is located at https://uptime.tamaki-shimai.moe/status/sakurajimaWe are now accepting invites to the Sakurasora PDS. The eventual goal is to have it work with an alternative relay and not rely on any of the main Bluesky relays or moderation. The PDS is only up, but in beta testing. We suggest using PDS Moover to move your Bluesky account (specify sakurasora.social as your target and use the invite code).
Note: Moving your account from the official Bluesky to our Sakurasora PDS does not change the way you access Bluesky. You can continue to use the Bluesky web client at bsky.app, but change the hosting provider to custom and specify sakurasora.social as the host.
People who can request an invite must have the following. You can request an invite by creating a ticket.
Creators who create the following:
- Blogging/Podcasting/Creating Videos about Japanese media and/or culture
- Creating fan-art/anime-styled artwork (including OCs)
- VTubing (including creating models)
- Vocaloid/Voiceroid (works created with Vocaloid, Cevio Ai, SynthV, Voiceroid, Voicepeak, etc) Fanfiction or fiction (based off Japanese works or Japanese inspired)
- Any small business selling Japanese goods. Japanese inspired video games, RPG Maker or visual novels.
- Cosplay, and other creations involving Japanese media or Japanese inspired.
- Fansubbing or translation of unlicensed works.
- Have a current account on Sakurajima Mastodon or Sakurajima Social for at least three months in good standing
- People who donated to Sakurajima through Patreon or through one-time donations
