Bluesky Bridge FAQ (bksy.brid.gy)

Now, Bridgy Fed (a third party service) is now working, you might be wondering about our stance. This is a fully opt-in service, your posts will not get sent to Bluesky nor Bluesky users can follow your account without your consent. Additionally, Bluesky users have to follow @ap.brid.gy before their posts get sent to the Fediverse and become available for following.

You have to follow the service account (@bsky.brid.gy@bsky.brid.gy.) and reply yes to it before your posts get sent to Bluesky You must follow this account to receive approval DMS, the bridge is silenced/limited due to the differences of how Bluesky does moderation compared to Mastodon, thus we do not include the posts on the public timeline, but you may see boosts from your home timeline if a user boosts their post.

The Bluesky Bridge is for users who want to use it. If you want nothing to do with Bluesky, do not opt in.

To follow a Bluesky user, search for them @<blueskyhandle>@bsky.brid.gy (e.g. @joinsakurajima.org@bsky.brid.gy) and follow them. (You must opt-in with the service account first for this to work). Note: The Bluesky user has to opt-in too by following @ap.brid.gy, otherwise their account won't be available for following on the Fediverse.

Note: Sakurajima does not run this service. It's up to the user's choice if they want to use it.

I don't like the Bluesky Bridge? Will my posts will get sent if I don't opt in.

For your posts to get to Bluesky, you actually have to opt in first by following the service account and reply yes. Otherwise, if you never opt-in to the bridge, your posts won't go there ever. You can block Bluesky bridge completely by viewing one of the bsky.brid.gy accounts, click the three dots and click "Block domain bsky.brid.gy."

Why Block Threads and not Bluesky Bridge?

Bluesky, although inferior to the Fediverse, is not as a big of a threat compared to Threads/Meta. We may explore a possibility of creating a separate server that supports limited federation of threads, but we don't plan to do so right now. Also, we want to use this as an oppertunity to get users who are using Bluesky to come over to our side, while maintaining connections over there.

What if a Bluesky user tries to follow me?

First, a Bluesky user cannot follow you unless you opt-in first. Anyone who has concerns, shouldn't as the bridge is tweaked so it's opt-in by the developer. When a user follows you, you may get a DM that you have to say yes. Afterwards, you have to approve the request in the Follow Requests list. This is because the Bluesky Bridge is silenced to hide the posts from the public timelines due to differences of Bluesky moderation vs the Fediverse.

What if a Bluesky account violates Sakurajima rules?

We deal with rule breaking on account basis, and content Bluesky users post must comply with our rules. Note: Bluesky has no CW, but media must be marked sensitive one way or another.
